Winner of Hospital Records’ ‘Women in Drum & Bass‘ mentorship programme, Johannesburg’s Stay-C is one of South Africa’s fastest rising DJs and producers.
Originally discovering D&B through the high-energy sounds of Netsky & Pendulum, Stay-C’s obsession with the genre led her to start DJing and creating her own drum and bass with highlights including playing alongside artists such as Gerra & Stone, Jam Thieves, Monty, Disrupta and Mandidextrous.
In 2019 she hosted her first DnB event, Onyx, geared towards cultivating the underground sound of Drum & Bass in Johannesburg. In 2021, Stay-C showcased her distinctive blend of mellisonant melodies, big basslines and hard-hitting drums in her productions. Releasing tracks such as ‘Russian Doll’ as part of the Hospital Records Future Symptoms Vol. 2, her remix of Nu:Logic’s ‘New Technique’ for Hospital’s 25th Anniversary album and ‘Make It Complex’ released on Soulvent Records, Stay-C has demonstrated a knack for crafting dancefloor thumpers. Stay-C has big plans for the future, seeking to bring some South African flavours and a lot more variety to her productions as she experiments with new styles and techniques.
Performing at huge events such as Hospitality on the Beach, Weekend in the Woods, Dazed (Bristol) and Hit & Run (Manchester), expect to see Stay-C blowing crowds away across the globe very soon.
